Angela Sommer-Bodenburg (born December 18, 1948) is a German author. She writes many fantasy books for children. Her most famous books are the The Little Vampire series. These books have sold over 10 million copies worldwide. They have also been translated into more than 30 languages. Angela Sommer-Bodenburg says her vampire character is not scary. Instead, he is a friendly little vampire with fears. She hopes he helps children understand their own fears.

The first Little Vampire book was written in 1979. This book led to a whole series of books. The stories have also been made into plays, radio shows, movies, and TV shows. A Canadian-German TV series came out in 1986. A film version, directed by Uli Edel, was released in 2000. Later, a computer-animated movie called The Little Vampire 3D came out in 2017. It was directed by Richard Claus and Karsten Kiilerich.
