Playing the Game
In Animal Crossing: City Folk, you move into a small village. You can talk to the animal villagers and become friends with them. You can also visit shops, like Tom Nook's store, to buy things for your house or new clothes. There's also a museum where you can donate cool fish, bugs, and fossils you find.
Visiting the City
A new and exciting part of this game is the city! You can ride a bus to get there. In the city, you'll find many new places to explore:
- GracieGrace: A fancy clothing store.
- The Marquee: A Theatre where you can learn new emotions for your character.
- Happy Room Academy: An office that gives you tips on how to decorate your house.
- Redd's Shop: A special shop run by a fox named Redd.
- Shampoodle: A salon where you can get a new hairstyle.
- Katrina's Tent: A place where a fortune teller can tell you your luck.
Shopping and More
There are many places to shop and interact in your village and the city.
Tom Nook's Shop
Tom Nook runs the main shop in your village. His store starts small but grows bigger over time. You can buy many useful items here, like:
- Wallpaper and carpets for your house.
- Paint to change your roof color.
- Furniture to decorate your rooms.
- Tools like fishing rods, nets, axes, and shovels.
- Writing paper and seeds for planting.
Tom Nook also buys items you don't want anymore. He is also in charge of making your house bigger when you want to expand it.
Able Sisters
The Able Sisters run a clothing shop in your village. Here you can find:
- Handmade clothes, umbrellas, and hats.
- Glasses to change your look.
You can also design your own "Pro designs." This means you can make unique patterns for the front, back, and sleeves of your clothes. If you have old clothes you don't want, you'll need to sell them to Tom Nook.
GracieGrace
This is a very fancy shop located in the city. GracieGrace sells special, limited-edition items. You can buy unique furniture, clothing, hats, glasses, and umbrellas here. The items at GracieGrace are more expensive than in Tom Nook's or the Able Sisters' shops, but they are very unique!
Redd's Shop
Redd, a fox, runs a special tent in the city. You can buy furniture and paintings from him once you become a member. To join, another person in your town needs to recommend you. Sometimes, items at Redd's might be more expensive than similar items at Tom Nook's. However, Redd often has rare paintings you can't find anywhere else.
Shampoodle
Want a new look? Visit Shampoodle in the city! Here you can get a new hairstyle. You can even get a complete makeover to turn your character into a Mii character saved on your Wii console.
Auction House
At the Auction House, you'll find Lloid. He can help you put your items up for auction. Your Nintendo Wi-Fi friends can then bid on and buy your stuff. If your item sells, you get the money! If it doesn't sell, Lloid will send it back to you.
Town Residents
There are over 100 different animal characters who can live in your town. They will move in and become your neighbors. After a while, some might decide to move out and go to a different town. You can interact with them, send them letters, and even give them gifts!
