She is married to Ottó Vincze, who used to be a football player. They have two sons, Boldizsár, born in 2015, and Domonkos, born in 2022. Anita is also an Honorary Citizen of Győr, a city in Hungary. In 2023, she was honored by being included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame.

Anita Görbicz's Handball Journey

Starting Her Club Career

Anita Görbicz began playing handball at a young age. She joined the Hungarian club Győri ETO KC in 1993 when she was just 10 years old. She quickly became a very important player for the team. If she wasn't playing, it was a big loss for them.

With Győri ETO KC, Anita won the Hungarian Championship and Cup many times. She also helped her team reach the finals of European competitions like the Cup Winners' Cup and the EHF Cup.

Champions League Success

Győri ETO KC reached the final of the Champions League for the first time in 2009. Sadly, Anita missed these important matches because of a knee injury. Her team lost the final to a Danish team called Viborg HK. Even though she was injured, she was still the second-highest goal scorer in that tournament.

Anita Görbicz scored her 2000th goal in the Hungarian Championship in January 2018. This shows how many goals she scored throughout her career. She has won the EHF Champions League trophy five times, which is a huge achievement!

Playing for Her Country

Anita Görbicz also played for the Hungarian national team. In the 2003 World Championship, Hungary reached the final but lost to France. She earned a silver medal there.

She also won a bronze medal at the 2004 European Championship. In 2005, she won another bronze medal with her team at the World Championship in Russia.

Anita's great performances for the national team were noticed. She was chosen for the World Championship All-Star Team three times in a row: in 2003, 2005, and 2007. She was also one of the top goal scorers in the 2005 and 2007 tournaments.

She represented Hungary at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2004, Hungary finished fifth. In 2008, they placed fourth after a tough competition. Anita scored 49 goals at the 2008 Olympics, making her the second-highest scorer.

Anita announced that she was retiring from the national team on December 10, 2017. This was after Hungary did not make it to the quarter-finals of the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship.
