Anita Görbicz (born May 13, 1983) is a famous Hungarian former handball player. She played for Győri ETO KC and the Hungarian national team. Many people think she is one of the best handball players ever!

She was even voted the IHF World Player of the Year in 2005. This award is given by the International Handball Federation. Anita is sometimes called the Queen of Handball around the world.

She is married to Ottó Vincze, who used to play football. They have two sons, Boldizsár (born in 2015) and Domonkos (born in 2022). Anita is also an Honorary Citizen of Győr, a city in Hungary.

Club Career

Anita Görbicz started her handball journey very early. She joined the Hungarian club Győri ETO KC in 1993. She was only 10 years old at the time. She quickly became a very important player for her team.

With Győri ETO KC, Anita won the Hungarian Championship many times. She also won the Hungarian Cup several times. At a European level, she reached the finals of the Cup Winners' Cup and the EHF Cup.

In 2009, her team, Győri ETO, reached the finals of the Champions League. This was a big achievement for them. Sadly, Anita missed the finals because of a knee injury. Her team lost to Viborg HK from Denmark. Even so, she was the second-highest goal scorer in that tournament.

Anita scored her 2000th goal in the Hungarian Championship in January 2018. This shows how many goals she scored in her career! She has won the EHF Champions League trophy five times. This is one of the biggest club titles in handball.

International Career

Anita Görbicz also played for the Hungarian national team. In 2003, she played in the World Championship. Hungary lost the final match against France.

She won a bronze medal at the 2004 European Championship. In 2005, she won another bronze medal with her team at the World Championship in Russia.

Anita's skills with the national team were often praised. She was chosen for the World Championship All-Star Team three times in a row. This happened in 2003, 2005, and 2007. She was also one of the top goal scorers in the 2005 and 2007 tournaments.

She played for Hungary in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens. She also played in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2004, Hungary finished fifth. In 2008, Hungary placed fourth after a tough competition. Anita scored 49 goals at the 2008 Olympics.

Anita announced she was retiring from the national team on December 10, 2017. This was after Hungary did not qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship.
