Anna is a city in Union County, Illinois, United States. It is the biggest city and main shopping area in the county. Anna is located in Southern Illinois.
In 2020, about 4,303 people lived there. Anna is often linked with its close neighbor, Jonesboro. The main public high school for both towns is even named after them. Anna is also home to the Choate Mental Health and Development Center, a state facility that opened in 1869.

History of Anna
Anna was officially planned out on March 3, 1854. The city was named after the wife of the person who founded the town. It became an official city on February 16, 1865.
