Anna Popplewell (born on December 16, 1988) is a talented English actress. She started acting in small parts in TV movies. She also appeared in popular films like Mansfield Park (1999) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003).
Anna became very famous for playing Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia movies. These fantasy films were released between 2005 and 2010. They made over $1.5 billion around the world. Later, she starred as Chyler Silva in the web series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (2012). She also played Lady Lola in the historical drama series Reign (2013–2016). In 2023, she appeared in the horror film The Nun II. That same year, she performed on stage for the first time in the play Hedda Gabler.

Early Life and Family
Anna Popplewell was born in London, England. She is the oldest of three children. Her father, Sir Andrew Popplewell, is a judge in the Court of Appeal. Her mother, Debra Lomas, is a skin doctor. Anna has a sister named Lulu Popplewell and a brother named Freddie. Her grandfather, Sir Oliver Popplewell, was also a judge. Her uncle, Nigel Popplewell, used to play cricket.
Education and Studies
Anna went to North London Collegiate School. In 2007, she was accepted into Oxford University. She studied English Language and Literature at Magdalen College.
Anna's Acting Career

Anna started acting classes at the age of six. She began her professional acting career in 1998. Her first TV role was in Frenchman's Creek. In 1999, she made her first film appearance in Mansfield Park. She also had supporting roles in The Little Vampire (2000) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003). In Girl with a Pearl Earring, she acted alongside Scarlett Johansson.
Starring in Narnia
Anna's biggest role came in 2005. She played Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She was 16 years old at the time. Anna had a fear of mice, so a stunt double helped with some scenes. The movie was a huge success and was loved by many.
She played Susan again in the sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008). In this film, she worked with William Moseley, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, and Ben Barnes. She also had a small appearance in the third Narnia movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010). All the Narnia films together earned over $1.5 billion worldwide.
Other Notable Roles
In 2012, Anna played Chyler Silva in a 5-part mini-series called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. From 2013 to 2016, she starred as Lola in the TV series Reign. Lola was a friend of Mary, Queen of Scots. This show was filmed in Ireland and Canada.
More recently, in 2023, Anna played Kate in the horror film The Nun II. This movie was very popular. Critics praised her performance, calling her a "familiar and welcome face." Also in 2023, she made her first appearance on stage. She played the main character in the play Hedda Gabler.
