Anna Maureen Barth Shaffer (born 15 March 1992) is an English actress. She is famous for her roles as Romilda Vane in the Harry Potter films and Ruby Button in the TV show Hollyoaks. Since 2019, she has played the powerful sorceress Triss Merigold in the Netflix series The Witcher.

Early Life and Education

Shaffer was born in North London, England. Her parents are from South Africa. She has one brother. For her education, she went to Highgate Wood School. Later, she studied for her A Levels (advanced school qualifications) at the Camden School for Girls.

Acting Career

Anna Shaffer's acting career is filled with roles in famous fantasy series and popular TV shows.

Breakthrough in Harry Potter

In 2007, when she was a teenager, Shaffer was chosen to play Romilda Vane in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Romilda was a student who tried to give Harry a love potion. Shaffer played this role again in the final two films, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Role in Hollyoaks

In 2010, Shaffer joined the cast of the popular British TV show Hollyoaks. She played Ruby Button, the sister of another character named Duncan Button. Shaffer moved to Liverpool, where the show is filmed, for this role. She first appeared as Ruby on 3 January 2011.

Shaffer played Ruby for several years. In an interview, she said she loved her time on the show but was ready for a new adventure. She left Hollyoaks in 2014 but came back for short appearances in 2017 and 2018.

The Witcher and Other Roles

After Hollyoaks, Shaffer appeared in other TV shows. In 2014, she was in an episode of Glue. In 2016, she played a character named Rachel in two episodes of the show Class.

In 2019, Shaffer took on the major role of Triss Merigold in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher. Triss is a talented and kind sorceress who is a friend to the main character, Geralt of Rivia. This role has made her known to fans all over the world.
