Anna Todd (born March 20, 1989) is an American author, film producer, and screenwriter. She is famous for writing the After book series. She first shared these stories on an online writing platform called Wattpad. Her books were later printed and translated into many languages.
In 2018, Anna Todd started her own company called Frayed Pages. In 2021, she also created her own publishing label with Wattpad.
Anna Todd's Writing Journey
Anna Todd's writing ideas first came from the music group One Direction. The main character in her After series, Hardin Scott, was inspired by singer Harry Styles. She began writing stories on her phone using the Wattpad app in 2013. She published a new chapter almost every day for over a year. Anna wrote three books in the After series on Wattpad.
Her After series has sometimes been compared to the Fifty Shades books. Both series started as fan fiction, which means they were stories written by fans using characters or settings from other works.
In 2015, Todd announced a new book called Before. This book tells the story of After from Hardin Scott's point of view. Her next book, The Spring Girls, came out in 2018. It is a new version of the classic story Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
In October 2014, Paramount Pictures bought the rights to make movies from the After series. The first film, based on her first book, was released on April 12, 2019. Josephine Langford plays Tessa, the main female character. Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays Hardin, the main male character.
Frayed Pages Media: A New Chapter
In 2021, Anna Todd launched her own publishing label, Frayed Pages. This was done in partnership with Wattpad Books. Frayed Pages will publish Anna's future novels. It will also publish books by other writers. This new label was announced in November 2021. At the same time, it was shared that After would become a graphic novel. The graphic novel was released in May 2022.
In February 2022, Cosmopolitan magazine announced Anna Todd's new novel. It was published under her Frayed Pages label. This book, The Falling, is a rewritten version of an earlier work called The Brightest Stars. It tells the story of a young girl named Karina. She falls in love with Kael, a soldier. Kael is working to overcome PTSD after serving in Afghanistan. Two more novels will complete this series: The Burning and The Infinite Light of Dust.
Anna Todd's Life
Anna Todd grew up in Dayton, Ohio. In 2007, she married an American soldier named Jordan Todd. The couple then moved to Fort Hood, Texas. While there, Anna worked at Waffle House and ULTA Beauty. Anna and Jordan divorced in 2022. They have one child, a son named Asher.
Anna Todd once shared a mailbox with Austin film critic Korey Coleman. Years later, he reviewed the movie based on her novel After. He gave it a negative review.
