Annesley Somerville was born in a place called Ballincollig in County Cork, Ireland. He was very good at mathematics. He studied math at two important universities. First, he went to Queen's College, Cork, where he earned his first degree in 1875. Later, he continued his studies at Trinity College, Cambridge. He received another degree there in 1880. At Cambridge, he was even recognized as a "Mathematical Scholar," which means he was especially talented in math.
From Teacher to Politician
After finishing his university studies, Annesley Somerville became a school teacher. He taught at two very famous schools in England. First, he taught at Wellington College. After that, he moved to Eton College, which is one of the most well-known schools in the world. He spent a long time, forty years, teaching students.
