Anson Adams Mount IV (born February 25, 1973) is an American actor. He is well-known for his roles in many TV shows and movies. You might know him as Cullen Bohannon in the western drama series Hell on Wheels. He also played the superhero Black Bolt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Inhumans and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Anson Mount is also famous for playing Captain Christopher "Chris" Pike in the Star Trek TV shows, including Discovery, Short Treks, and Strange New Worlds. He even starred with Britney Spears in the movie Crossroads (2002).

Early Life and Education
Anson Mount was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois. His mother, Nancy Smith, used to be a professional golfer. He has an older brother and two sisters from his father's first marriage.
Mount went to Dickson County High School in Dickson, Tennessee. After high school, he studied at Sewanee: The University of the South and later at Columbia University.

Anson Mount has had a busy career in theater, film, and television.
Stage Acting
In 1998, Mount acted in a play called Corpus Christi, and he received an award from the Drama League for his performance. He also wrote his own plays, and one of them, Love Liza?, won an award called the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Prize.
Film Roles
Anson Mount's first big movie role was in 2000 in the independent film Tully.
In 2009, he helped produce and starred in another independent film called Cook County. This movie won awards at several film festivals, like Hollywood, AFI Dallas, Nashville, and SXSW.
More recently, in 2022, Mount played Black Bolt again in the Marvel movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He had first played this silent superhero in the 2017 TV series Inhumans.
Television Roles
Anson Mount is very well known for his main role as Cullen Bohannon in the AMC series Hell on Wheels. He also helped produce the show from 2014 to 2016.
In 2017, he took on the role of Black Bolt in the Marvel TV series Inhumans.
In 2018, he was chosen to play Captain Christopher Pike of the Starship Enterprise in the CBS series Star Trek: Discovery. Fans really loved his performance, and many asked for a spin-off show just about Captain Pike. Because of this, in 2019, he played Pike again in some Star Trek: Short Treks episodes. Then, in May 2020, it was announced that he would star as Pike in a brand new series called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which started in 2022.
Teaching and Writing
Besides acting, Anson Mount also teaches. He is a professor at Columbia University, where he teaches acting students how to audition. He has also written articles for magazines like Mosaic and The Daily Beast.
Personal Life
Anson Mount got engaged to photographer Darah Trang in 2017. They got married on February 20, 2018. They have one daughter, who was born in December 2021. He is a member of the Episcopal Church.

Podcast
Anson Mount writes, produces, and hosts a podcast called The Well with his friend Branan Edgens. He has also narrated stories for the Pseudopod podcast.
Video Games
Mount has also lent his voice to video games. He voiced the character Sebastian Castellanos in The Evil Within (2014) and its downloadable content The Assignment (2015).
