Anthony Emmanuel Bass is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). He also played college football at Bethune–Cookman University.
Early Life and College Football
Anthony Bass was born on March 27, 1975, in St. Albans, West Virginia. He went to South Charleston High School in South Charleston, West Virginia.
After high school, he played college football for the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats. He was a key player for them from 1994 to 1997. Being a "letterman" means he earned a special award for playing well in a sport.
Playing in the NFL
Anthony Bass started his professional football journey in 1998. Even though he was not chosen in the 1998 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings signed him. This means they offered him a contract to join their team.
Later in 1998, he briefly joined the practice squad for the Green Bay Packers. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. They help the main team practice and can be called up if needed.
Bass then returned to the Vikings' practice squad. He was later moved to the main team roster. During the 1999 season, he played in 14 games for the Vikings. He made 17 solo tackles and one interception. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an opposing player. He left the Vikings in 2000.
Life After Football
After his football career, Anthony Bass became a pastor. He founded a church called Endurance Church. It is located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
