Anthony Emmanuel Bass, born on March 27, 1975, is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Bethune–Cookman University.
Growing Up and College Football
Anthony Bass was born in St. Albans, West Virginia, on March 27, 1975. He went to South Charleston High School in South Charleston, West Virginia.
He played college football for the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats. He was a key player for them from 1994 to 1997.
Professional Football Career
Anthony Bass joined the Minnesota Vikings on May 1, 1998. This was after the 1998 NFL draft, where he was not chosen by any team. He was released by the Vikings on August 24, 1998.
Later, on September 9, 1998, he signed with the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was released by the Packers just three days later.
Bass then returned to the Vikings' practice squad on September 17, 1998. On November 10, he was moved to the Vikings' main team. That season, he played in three games.
During the 1999 season, Bass played in 14 games for the Vikings. He started in three of those games. He made 17 solo tackles and three assisted tackles. He also had one interception and broke up one pass. The Vikings released him on August 14, 2000.
Life After Football
After his football career, Anthony Bass became a pastor. He started a church called Endurance Church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
