Brooklyn Park is a city in Minnesota, located on the west side of the Mississippi River. It is just north of downtown Minneapolis in Hennepin County. Brooklyn Park is the sixth-largest city in Minnesota.
In 2020, about 86,478 people lived here. The city has a mix of developed areas and open spaces. You can still find farms, like the historic Eidem Homestead. This is a working farm from the 1900s. It's a fun place for families and school trips to visit.
A famous person, WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Jesse Ventura, was the mayor of Brooklyn Park. He served from 1991 to 1995. Later, he became the governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003.
Brooklyn Park is known as a "Tree City USA." It has many trails and parks, including the Rush Creek Regional Trail. The city is also home to Mississippi Gateway Regional Park. Several colleges are located here, such as Rasmussen University, North Hennepin Community College, and Hennepin Technical College.

History of Brooklyn Park
The first settlers from Michigan officially set up a town government in 1858. They named the area after their hometown, Brooklyn, Michigan. It was first called Brooklyn Township.
In 1911, the township split. The southeast part became a separate town called Brooklyn Center. Brooklyn Township then became the Village of Brooklyn Park in 1954. It officially became a city in 1969.

The Mississippi River forms the eastern edge of the city. It separates Brooklyn Park from cities like Coon Rapids and Fridley.
