Early Life and Training
Anthony Boyle was born in west Belfast, which is in Northern Ireland. He went to De La Salle College and St Louise's Comprehensive College. When he was a child, he used a wheelchair for several years because of a bone condition. Anthony has said that this helped him become a better actor. He would often make up stories and conversations while watching other children play.
He started acting in local plays, which he described as "the worst productions you’ve ever seen." One of these was a version of Romeo and Juliet, where he acted alongside his friend Lola Petticrew. In 2013, he began his acting training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He finished his studies and graduated in 2016 with a degree in acting.
Anthony Boyle knows the areas and history shown in the TV series Say Nothing very well. He mentioned that "the streets we were walking down were streets I’ve walked my whole life." His school was on Falls Road, close to a mural of Brendan Hughes, the person he played in the show. His co-star, Lola Petticrew, has said that Anthony has been one of her best friends since they were 11 years old. He is also good friends with Frank Blake, who played Seamus Wright in the same series.
