Anthony Gatto (born Anthony Commarota on April 14, 1973) is an American juggler. He holds many juggling world records. Anthony started performing in Las Vegas when he was ten years old.
Early Life as a Juggler
Anthony Gatto was born in Manhattan. He grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland. He learned to juggle at age three. His stepfather, Nick Gatto, taught him. Nick was a retired Vaudeville performer. By age five, Anthony was already better than his dad.
He was a juggling superstar. By the time he was nine, he was world-class. He won a gold medal at Circus Mondial in Paris.
Anthony first appeared on TV at age eight. It was on a show called That's Incredible! When he was 13, he placed third in a big competition. This was at the 39th yearly meeting of the International Jugglers Association. His family moved to Las Vegas when he was 14. They did this so he could find more performing jobs.
Anthony's Career as an Adult
In 1998, Anthony met Danielle, who would become his wife. She started helping him in his shows. Danielle was a professional dancer. She learned circus skills to perform with Anthony. They got married in 1999 and have two children.
Anthony performed in a show called Midnight Fantasy starting in 1999. He juggled many things without talking much. He juggled hula hoops, fast-thrown clubs, and balls into baskets. People really loved his part of the show.
In 2000, he won a very important award. It was the Golden Clown award at the 24th International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo. He is the only juggler to ever win it. From 2007 to 2009, Anthony performed in Cirque du Soleil's show Koozå. From 2010 to 2012, he was part of another Cirque du Soleil show, La Nouba.
In 2012, Anthony Gatto stopped performing with Cirque Du Soleil. He decided to start a business. It's a concrete resurfacing company called "Big Top Concrete Resurfacing LLC." He uses his birth name, Anthony Commarota, for the business. It started in August 2012 in Orlando, Florida.
