Antiene (also spelled Antienne) is a small country area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Muswellbrook Shire local government area. This means it is managed by the local council in Muswellbrook. The name Antiene might have come from County Antrim in Northern Ireland. However, some people think the name was written down incorrectly a long time ago!
A very important railway line, called the Main North railway line, goes right through Antiene. There is a special place here where coal is unloaded from trains. This coal then goes to big power stations like Bayswater and Liddell. These power stations use coal to make electricity for homes and businesses.
Before 2007, the railway line in Antiene was only a single track. This meant trains sometimes had to wait for each other. But now, the track has been doubled all the way to Muswellbrook. This makes train travel much smoother and faster. A railway station opened in Antiene in 1890. It closed in 1975, and today, there is no sign of it left.
