Anubias gilletii is a cool plant that belongs to the Araceae family, which is a group of flowering plants. Scientists first officially described this plant in 1901. Two scientists named Émile Auguste Joseph De Wildeman and Th. Durand were the ones who gave it its name.

Where Does Anubias Gilletii Grow?

This plant naturally grows in parts of Africa. You can find it in countries like Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

What Does Anubias Gilletii Look Like?

The leaves of Anubias gilletii are a medium-green color. They are shaped like a spear. These leaves grow on long stems. They can get quite long, sometimes reaching about 40 centimetres (16 inches) in length. This plant often grows in muddy areas. You can find it near or even in streams. Sometimes, it can even grow completely underwater!

How to Grow Anubias Gilletii

This plant grows best when it is only partly underwater. It also likes to have space and not be too crowded by other plants. Anubias gilletii needs a lot of nutrients to grow well. The soil, or substrate, it grows in should be loose. It also needs to have a good amount of iron.

The plant prefers moderate to strong light. It likes temperatures between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius (72-79 degrees Fahrenheit). You can grow more of these plants in a couple of ways. You can divide its stolon, which is like a creeping stem. Or, you can grow new plants from its seeds.
