April Ivy is the stage name for Mariana Barreiros dos Santos Gonçalves, a talented singer and songwriter from Portugal. She was born on July 10, 1999. April Ivy started her journey in the music world at a very young age.
She began exploring her artistic side when she was just 9 years old. She even lent her voice to Disney characters in movies like Toy Story 3 and Tangled. April Ivy also took part in acting workshops in different countries. Around the same time, she started learning piano and voice lessons. She even formed her first band, called 'Flames on Fire', where she was the lead singer and played the guitar. April Ivy writes and performs her own songs. She also composes music for other artists.

April Ivy started performing with her band 'Flames on Fire' when she was 9. They played at school events and parties. She even sold their band merchandise to parents and friends. Early Voice Acting Work
April Ivy began her professional artistic career at age 10. She voiced the character 'Molly' in the Portuguese version of the Disney movie Toy Story 3. This was her first time working in a professional studio. After that, she also did voice-overs for other Disney productions, including Tangled and Molly and Me.
Getting Discovered
When April Ivy was 14, she did a school internship at a radio company in Portugal. There, she was noticed by the director of a popular radio station called Mega Hits. This was a big step in her career!
First Hit Song
Her very first song was called "Be Ok." She created and performed this song as an independent artist. "Be Ok" became a huge success! It reached the top of national radio charts. It also topped the charts on Spotify, YouTube, and iTunes in Portugal. The song even made it into the top 100 national sales charts, reaching number one. "Be Ok" was also featured in the soundtrack of a Portuguese TV show for teens called "Massa Fresca."
In June 2016, April Ivy signed her first international music deal with Universal Music France. Because of her popular song "Be Ok," she was invited to perform at a big music festival called MEO Sudoeste in 2016. Later that year, in November 2016, her song "Shut Up" was used in the Portuguese TV show "A Impostora".
Awards and Nominations
April Ivy was nominated for "Best Portuguese Act" at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards. She was also nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the 2017 Golden Globes (Portugal). Although she didn't win the Golden Globe that time, she did win the "Best Newcomer" award at the 2016 "Melhores do Ano" gala by Radio Nova Era.
On August 5, 2017, during her summer tour, April Ivy performed on the main stage of the MEO Sudoeste festival again.
First Album Release
On July 19, 2019, April Ivy released her first album, titled "game.of.love." This album included her first six singles and four brand new songs. The album was released by Warner Music Portugal.

Mariana Barreiros dos Santos Gonçalves, known as April Ivy, grew up in Lisbon, Portugal. Her mother has Italian family roots, and her father is from Lisbon. April Ivy is the middle child in her family. She has two brothers, João Miguel and Miguel.
She attended St. Julian's School from the age of three until she went to college. She then studied Marketing and Advertisement at IADE - Universidade Europeia. She did all of this while also working on her music career.
