Arbaeen facts for kids
Arbaeen (pronounced Ar-ba-een) is a very important religious event for Shia Muslims. It is also known as Chehelom or Qirkhi. The word "Arbaeen" means "forty" in Arabic. This event takes place exactly forty days after the Day of Ashura.
Arbaeen honors the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali. He was the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.
