History of Arbela
Arbela was first planned out and given the name "North Perryville" in 1858. This means its streets and lots were drawn on a map.
When the Keokuk & Western Railroad arrived some years later, the town was re-mapped. At this time, its name was changed to Arbela. The name "Arbela" comes from a famous ancient battle. In this battle, Alexander the Great won a big victory against the Persian Army.
