The Arrondissement of Annecy is surrounded by other areas. To the northwest, it borders the Arrondissement of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois. To the northeast, it borders the Arrondissement of Bonneville. To the south, it borders the Savoie department.
It is the most southern arrondissement in its department. It is the second largest arrondissement by size, covering about 1,261.6 square kilometers (487 square miles). However, it has the most people, with 276,382 residents. This means it has a population density of about 219 people per square kilometer.
