History of Bressuire
When the Deux-Sèvres department was first created in 1790, Bressuire wasn't one of its original districts. But in 1804, it became an arrondissement. This happened when the main office for the Thouars area was moved to Bressuire.
Geography of Bressuire
Bressuire is the northernmost arrondissement in its department. It shares borders with other areas. To the north, it's next to the Maine-et-Loire department. To the east, it borders the Vienne department. South of Bressuire is the arrondissement of Parthenay. Finally, to the west, it touches the Vendée department.
This area covers about 1,622.6 km2 (626.5 sq mi). Around 96,703 people live here. This means there are about 59.6 people living in each square kilometer.
