The arrondissement of Clamecy is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Nièvre département in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Its capital is the city of Clamecy.
History
When the Nièvre department was created on 17 February 1800, the arrondissement of Clamecy was part of that original department.
Geography
The arrondissement of Clamecy is bordered to the north and northeast by the Yonne (Burgundy) department, to the southeast by the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville), to the southwest by the arrondissement of Nevers and to the west by the arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire.
It is found in the northern part of the department, with an area of 1,464 km2 (565 sq mi). It has 24,993 inhabitants and a population density of 17.1 inhabitants/km².
