Arrowhead Springs is a very hilly neighborhood. It is part of the city of San Bernardino, California. This area was officially added to San Bernardino on November 19, 2009.
A famous natural landmark called the Arrowhead geological monument is here. It is a huge, light-colored rock formation on the side of the mountains. This arrowhead shape looks over the San Bernardino Valley. It is also a California Historical Landmark #977.
Many things are named after this natural arrowhead. These include the city of Lake Arrowhead, California and Lake Arrowhead Reservoir. Even the company Arrowhead Water got its name from this spot.
Long ago, Native Americans in the San Bernardino Valley believed the Arrowhead pointed to special hot springs below. These springs are where the historic Arrowhead Springs Hotel, Spa, and Bungalows are located. The area also has the Arrowhead Country Club and Golf Course.
The Arrowhead landmark itself is located at 34°11′39″N 117°15′35″W / 34.19417°N 117.25972°W.

Arrowhead Springs Hotel and Spa History
The historic Arrowhead Springs Hotel and Spa is in the Arrowhead Springs neighborhood. It covers a large area right below the famous Arrowhead geological monument. This monument overlooks the San Bernardino Valley.
The current hotel building was designed by famous architects Gordon B. Kaufmann and Paul R. Williams. The resort has natural hot springs. It also features mineral baths and steam caves deep underground.
Years ago, a special "Red Car" rail line connected the hotel. This line, part of the Pacific Electric system, linked the hotel to San Bernardino. It also connected to the wider Greater Los Angeles area.
For a long time, the site was the main office for a Christian organization called Cru. After they moved their operations to Florida, the property was mostly empty. In May 2016, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians bought the Arrowhead Springs property.
In 1924, architect Arthur B. Benton designed a rustic entrance archway. It was made of concrete and decorated with large boulders. The archway was 15 feet tall and 26 feet wide. It was likely located at 34°10′58″N 117°16′26″W / 34.18278°N 117.27389°W.
What's Planned for the Future?
There are many exciting plans for the future of the Arrowhead Springs site. These plans include adding a new 115-room section to the existing hotel. A brand new 300-room hotel will also be built near a lake.
The plans also include new reservoirs and changing the shape of Lake Vonette. There will be new vineyards and a restaurant called Windy Point for wine tasting. A new 18-hole golf course is also planned.
For homes, there will be 36 new custom houses next to the golf course. A new area called Village Walk will have shops and homes. This includes 34 apartment suites and 266 condominiums, townhomes, and single-family homes.
Another area will have 300 new homes for seniors. A new spa resort will also be built. More homes, including condominiums and single-family houses, will be located near the golf course.
The site will also feature a new polo club and equestrian center with stables. There will be many multi-purpose trails and water features. A public botanical garden and private parks are also part of the plan.
For businesses, there will be a new office complex and a conference center. Another development called Hilltown will have shops and more homes.
Existing facilities on the grounds include a cinema. There are also ten private bungalows that were once owned by famous people. These include Eleanor Roosevelt, Lucille Ball, and Judy Garland. Other facilities include an outdoor amphitheater, a wedding chapel, and the Esther Williams Pool. There is also the Hill Auditorium, several ballrooms, tennis courts, and the Hacienda.
