Sir Arthur Harris's Life and Roles
Sir Arthur Harris served as the High Sheriff of Essex in 1589. A High Sheriff was like a chief law enforcement officer for a county. He was also a Justice of the Peace. This meant he helped keep order and settle disputes in his local area. In 1577, he was part of a special group called Commissioners. Their job was to investigate and stop sea crimes, like piracy, along the coast of Essex.
His Family and Home
Sir Arthur Harris married Dorothy Waldegrave. Her father was Sir William Waldegrave. Sir Arthur Harris lived in several places in Essex, including Creeksea, Woodham Mortimer, and Cold Norton. He also had a home in the City of London. He is famous for building the beautiful manor house known as Creeksea Place in Creeksea, Essex. This house is still standing today.

- Dorothy Harris, who was born around 1561 and passed away in 1626. She married a man named Robert Kempe.
Sir Arthur Harris passed away on 7 July 1597. He was buried at St. Mary's Church in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex.
