Early Life and Education

Arthur Hayter was the only son of Sir William Hayter, 1st Baronet. His mother was Anne Pulsford. He went to Eton, a famous school. After that, he studied at Brasenose College, Oxford, which is a part of Oxford University. Later, he joined the Grenadier Guards, a group of soldiers.

Arthur Hayter's Political Journey

Arthur Hayter served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for several areas. An MP is a person elected to represent a group of people in the government.

  • He represented Wells from 1865 to 1868.
  • Then he represented Bath from 1873 to 1885.
  • Later, he was the MP for Walsall from 1893 to 1895 and again from 1900 to 1906.

Important Roles He Held

Arthur Hayter held several important roles in the government:

  • He then became the Financial Secretary to the War Office from 1882 to 1885. In this job, he helped manage the money for the army. Both of these roles were under Prime Minister William Gladstone.

  • In January 1906, he was given the title of Baron Haversham. This meant he became a member of the House of Lords, a part of the UK Parliament.

Personal Life
