Ash Gray's Journey on Britain's Got Talent

Auditioning for Britain's Got Talent

Ash Gray, then known as Gabz, first auditioned for Britain's Got Talent on 26 May. He sang an original song he wrote called "The One". Before singing, he shared that the song was about "losing the love of your life".

The judges loved his performance. Simon Cowell said he "absolutely loved that" and thought it was a "cute little song". Ash received four "yes" votes from the judges. This meant he moved on to the next round and then to the semi-finals.

Semi-Finals and the Grand Final

In the semi-final on 28 May, Ash performed "The One" again. This time, he had a backing track and a choir helping him. Judge David Walliams even asked Simon Cowell to release the song for sale. He believed it could become a number one hit.

Ash made it into the top three acts that night. The judges then chose him to go through to the final. This was a big moment for him.

It was Ash's own idea to audition for the show. He later shared that his dad almost didn't let him audition because of his behavior at home. But after Ash improved, his dad agreed. Ash was very happy to get so far in the competition. He hoped to get a record deal to share more of his songs. He had already written over 30 songs!

In the final, Ash performed a mix of a new song called "Lie There" and his hit "The One". He finished in seventh place.
