Ashby is a small community in Grant County, Nebraska, United States. It is not an officially organized city or town.
Ashby is located in the western part of Nebraska. Its elevation is 3,843 feet (1,173 meters) above sea level. You can find it along Nebraska Highway 2. It is about 9 miles (14½ kilometers) west-northwest of Hyannis. Hyannis is the main town, or county seat, for Grant County. Ashby also has its own post office with the ZIP code 69333.
History
Ashby began to grow when the railroad was built through this area. Railroads were very important for connecting communities and moving goods back then.
A railroad official chose the name "Ashby." He named it after a town called Ashby, Massachusetts. The Ashby post office officially opened in 1908.
