History of Ashley
Ashley was started in 1888. This happened when a railroad, the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad, built tracks to this spot. The city was named after Ashley E. Morrow, who worked for the railroad.
A post office opened in Ashley in 1888. The McIntosh County Courthouse, an important building, was built in 1919.
