Ashley Grossman was born on May 27, 1993. She is a talented water polo player from the United States. Ashley has played for both the U.S. Junior and Senior National Teams. She helped Team USA win a gold medal in water polo at the 2015 Pan American Games.

Her Early Life

Ashley Grossman was born in Santa Monica, California. Her parents are Linda and Gerald Grossman. Sports run in her family! Her father, Gerald, played football for the Tufts Jumbos. Her mother, Linda, ran track for the Milwaukee Panthers.

Ashley's Water Polo Journey

High School Success

Ashley went to Harvard-Westlake High School. She played water polo for all four years. She was the team captain in her last two years. In her senior year, she received many honors. These included being named an All-American player. She was also the CIF Southern Section Division I Player of the Year. She competed in the Junior World Water Polo Championships in 2009 and 2011. Ashley was even named MVP of the 2010 Junior Olympics. In 2011, she won an award from the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

College Championships

After high school, Ashley attended Stanford University. She studied Science, Technology and Society. While at Stanford, her water polo team won three NCAA championships! She played a key role at the 2-meter position. Ashley earned many awards for her strong play each year. She finished her college career with 169 goals. This placed her 10th in Stanford's history. She also received a special award for her competitive spirit. In 2016, she earned a scholarship for her amazing school and sports achievements.

Playing for Team USA

Ashley won the NCAA Championship with Stanford in 2012 and 2014. In 2013, she won a gold medal at the FINA Junior Water Polo World Championships. The next year, in 2014, she won a silver medal with Team USA.

Ashley played for the United States women's national water polo team. She was on both the Junior and Senior National Teams. In June 2015, she helped Team USA win a gold medal. This was at the 2015 FINA Women's Water Polo World League. In July 2015, Team USA won another gold medal. This was at the 2015 Pan American Games. They played against teams like Argentina, Cuba, and Mexico.

Joining the Halls of Fame

Ashley Grossman has been honored for her achievements. In 2016, she was inducted into two Halls of Fame. These were the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Northern California. In 2017, her high school, Harvard-Westlake, also inducted her into their Hall of Fame.
