Assumption is a small, unincorporated community located in Minnesota, United States. It stretches across parts of two different counties: Carver County and Sibley County. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
This community is found about eight miles east-northeast of Green Isle. Other places nearby include Hamburg, Norwood Young America, Bongards, Cologne, and Belle Plaine. Assumption is also home to the Assumption State Wildlife Management Area, a special place for nature and animals.
Assumption is part of Hancock Township in Carver County. It is also located within Washington Lake Township in Sibley County. Townships are like smaller areas within a county.

How Assumption Got Its Name
Assumption had its own post office many years ago. It operated from 1881 until 1906. The community got its name from a Roman Catholic church that was also called Assumption.
