Astyanax and the Trojan War
The Trojan War was a long and famous conflict between the Greeks and the city of Troy. It lasted for ten years. Astyanax was just a baby or a very young child during this war. His father, Hector, was Troy's greatest warrior and protector.
One famous story tells how Hector said goodbye to his family before a big battle. Astyanax was scared of his father's shiny bronze helmet and cried. Hector took off his helmet to comfort his son, showing his love and tenderness even in wartime.
The Fall of Troy
After many years, the Greeks finally won the Trojan War by using the famous Trojan Horse. They entered the city and destroyed it. The war ended with great tragedy for the people of Troy.
The Fate of Astyanax
Sadly, Astyanax did not survive the end of the war. The Greek warriors were worried that if he grew up, he might try to rebuild Troy and seek revenge for his family and city. To prevent this, Neoptolemus, the son of the great Greek hero Achilles, killed young Astyanax. This was a very tragic event that marked the complete downfall of Troy.
