Atalaya is a town located in the Ucayali Region of Peru. It is an important center in its area. Atalaya serves as the capital for both the Atalaya Province and the Raymondi District. This town is sometimes called La Esmeralda del Ucayali, which means "The Emerald of Ucayali".
Geography and Rivers
Atalaya is uniquely positioned where two major rivers meet. The Tambo River and the Urubamba River flow together here. When they join, they form the mighty Ucayali River. This meeting point makes Atalaya a key location for river travel and trade. The Ucayali River is a very important waterway in Peru.
Getting There
To reach Atalaya, people often use air travel. The town has its own airport, called Tnte. Gral. Gerardo Pérez Pinedo Airport. This airport connects Atalaya to other parts of Peru. It helps people and goods move in and out of this river-side town.
