The Atikameg River is a cool river located in the Kenora District of Northwestern Ontario in Canada. It's part of a huge area where water collects, called the James Bay drainage basin. Think of it like a giant funnel that sends water towards James Bay. The Atikameg River is one of the smaller rivers that flows into a bigger one, the Kapiskau River.

Where is the Atikameg River?

This river is found in the northeastern part of the Kenora District. This district is in the northwestern area of Ontario, one of Canada's largest provinces. So, the Atikameg River is in a pretty wild and natural part of Canada!

The River's Journey

The Atikameg River starts its journey from a lake that doesn't even have a name! From there, it flows mostly towards the east. After a while, it turns and heads northeast.

Its journey ends when it flows into the Kapiskau River. The Kapiskau River then continues its own journey until it reaches the huge body of water known as James Bay. This means all the water from the Atikameg River eventually makes its way to James Bay.

Rivers Joining Atikameg

As the Atikameg River flows, other smaller rivers join it, adding more water to its path. These smaller rivers are called tributaries.
