Atlantic Terminal and Atlantic Center are two large shopping malls in Brooklyn, New York City. They are located on Atlantic Avenue, near Flatbush Avenue and Fort Greene Place. These two malls are right across the street from each other. A small enclosed bridge connects the Target store in Atlantic Terminal to Atlantic Center. Both malls are managed by the same company, Madison International Realty. This company bought the malls in 2017.
Atlantic Terminal also has offices and part of the ticket area for the Long Island Rail Road. The malls are located directly across Atlantic Avenue from the Barclays Center arena.
Before the malls were built, this land was considered for a baseball stadium in the 1950s. The Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team wanted to build a domed stadium there. However, the plan did not work out. The Dodgers then moved to Los Angeles in 1958.
What's Inside the Malls?
Atlantic Terminal has five floors. The lower levels are home to the LIRR and New York City Subway stations. The upper floors have many popular stores. Some of these include Bath & Body Works, Chuck E. Cheese, DSW, Sephora, Uniqlo, and a large Target store.
There are two Starbucks coffee shops here. One is inside Target, and the other is near the LIRR ticket office. The Target store in Atlantic Terminal is special because it has multiple levels. It uses escalators, elevators, and a special shopping cart conveyor to help shoppers move between floors.
Atlantic Center has three levels for stores and two underground levels for parking. You can find stores like Best Buy, Stop and Shop, Marshall's, and Burlington Coat Factory here.
