Auburndale is a neighborhood in the northern part of Queens, one of New York City's five main areas. It's located between the neighborhoods of Bayside and Murray Hill.
The name "Auburndale" comes from Auburndale, Massachusetts. This was the hometown of L. H. Green, who started developing this community in 1901. This happened when the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) began offering train service to the area. Today, the Auburndale station on the LIRR's Port Washington Branch still provides regular train service to and from Manhattan.
Auburndale is part of Queens Community District 11. Its ZIP Code is 11358. The neighborhood is kept safe by the New York City Police Department's 111th Precinct.
