Felicia Arlene O'Dell (born May 7, 1957 – died March 18, 2017) was a popular American YouTube personality. She was best known as Auntie Fee. Her cooking videos were filmed in her kitchen by her son, Tavis Hunter. She also appeared on TV and became famous for her funny and direct style.
About Auntie Fee's Life
Felicia O'Dell was born in South Los Angeles. She was one of ten children. Her father, James O'Dell, worked as a carpenter, plumber, and electrician. Auntie Fee said she learned to cook when she was nine years old. She would prepare her father's favorite meals. These included dishes like gumbo, hog's head cheese, and red beans and rice.
She went to John C. Fremont High School. However, she left school during her last year.
Becoming a YouTube Star
Auntie Fee became very famous online in July 2014. She shared her cooking skills in a series of videos. Some popular ones were "Sink Chicken" and "How to feed Seven people with just $3.35." She often said her food was "for the kids." Her son, Tavis Hunter, helped by filming the videos and appearing alongside her. She had over 330,000 followers on her Facebook page.
She also made special videos to promote movies. These included Dumb and Dumber To and Top Five. Many well-known people appeared with her. These guests included actress Sherri Shepherd, TMZ founder Harvey Levin, and musician Snoop Dogg. Auntie Fee was interviewed on several TV shows. She appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Steve Harvey Show, and TMZ.
Auntie Fee started her own business. She sold items like dry seasoning, clothes, and other cooking spices on her website. She created more than 50 videos for her YouTube channel, which was called 'Cooking With Auntie Fee.' She also had acting parts. She appeared in the TV show Real Husbands of Hollywood and the movie Barbershop: The Next Cut.
Her Passing
Auntie Fee became ill with chest pains at her home on March 14, 2017. An emergency call was made. She was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. While there, she had a serious heart attack. Doctors placed her on life support.
Her brother, Jude O'Dell, shared that his sister died at the hospital on March 18, 2017. She was 59 years old. Her funeral was held on April 1, 2017. It took place at Paradise Baptist Church in Los Angeles. The funeral was open to the public and was also shown live on Facebook.
