Aurélie Dupont (born on January 15, 1973, in Paris) is a famous French ballet dancer. She was a top dancer, called an Étoile, with the Paris Opera Ballet.

Aurélie started her dance journey in 1983 when she joined the Paris Opera Ballet School. She became part of the main dance company in 1989 when she was just sixteen. By December 1996, she was a première danseuse, which is a very high rank. She became a star dancer (Étoile) in 1998 after an amazing performance as Kitri in the ballet Don Quixote. She also starred in another famous ballet, The Sleeping Beauty.

In 2010, a movie director named Cédric Klapisch released a documentary about Aurélie called L'espace d'un instant. He had filmed it over two years to show her life as a dancer.

Aurélie Dupont officially retired from the Paris Opera stage on May 18, 2015, after performing in the ballet Manon. But her journey with the Paris Opera wasn't over! On February 5, 2016, it was announced that she would become the new director of dance for the Paris Opera Ballet. She took over after Benjamin Millepied stepped down. In June 2022, Aurélie announced that she would leave the company the following month.

  • 1992: She won a Gold medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition (for junior dancers).
  • 1993: She won the French Prix du Cercle Carpeaux [fr].
  • 1994: She won an award from the AROP (Association for the influence of the Paris National Opera).
  • 2002: She received the Prix Benois de la Danse, which is a very prestigious international ballet award.
  • 2005: She was named a Chevalier (Knight) of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, a special honor from the French government for people who have contributed to arts and literature.
