Augustine "Austin" Amamchukwu Ejide (born on April 8, 1984) is a Nigerian football player. He is a goalkeeper, which means he protects his team's goal. His middle name, Amamchukwu, means "I know God."
Austin Ejide was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He has played for many football clubs around the world. These include Gabros International in Nigeria, SC Bastia in France, and several teams in Israel, like Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Hapoel Hadera.

Austin Ejide's Club Career
Austin Ejide began his football journey with Gabros International. After a great season there, he joined Étoile du Sahel, a team in Tunisia. With this Tunisian club, he played in two big finals for the CAF Champions League.
In 2006, Ejide moved to France to play for SC Bastia in Ligue 2. He spent three years with them. Later, he moved to Israel and joined Hapoel Petah Tikva. He helped this team avoid being moved down to a lower league.
In 2012, Ejide joined Hapoel Be'er Sheva. He played for them until 2015. Later, from 2017 to 2018, he played for Hapoel Hadera. He had an amazing season, keeping the opposing team from scoring in 15 games out of 27. His excellent play helped Hapoel Hadera get promoted to the Israeli Premier League. Many people in Hadera see him as a hero because he helped their team return to the top league after 39 years.
Playing for Nigeria: International Career
Austin Ejide first played for the Nigerian national team, known as the Super Eagles, on June 16, 2001. This was in a game against Namibia.
He has been part of Nigeria's team in three FIFA World Cup tournaments:

In 2013, he was also chosen to play for Nigeria in the FIFA Confederations Cup.
During the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana, Nigeria's coach chose Ejide as the main goalkeeper for all four matches. His first game in that tournament was on January 21, 2008, when Nigeria lost 2–1 to Ivory Coast. However, he later helped Nigeria keep a clean sheet (meaning no goals were scored against them) in a 0–0 draw with Mali and a 2–0 win over Benin.
