Another important road, Texas State Highway 155, crosses Highway 49 near Avinger.
- Highway 155 heads northeast about 14 miles (23 km) to Linden. Linden is the main town in Cass County.
- It also goes southwest about 27 miles (43 km) to Gilmer.
