Avinger is located in the southwestern part of Cass County. You can find it on Texas State Highway 49. This highway connects Avinger to other towns.
- To the northwest, Highway 49 goes about 9 miles (14 km) to Hughes Springs.
- To the southeast, it goes about 16 miles (26 km) to Jefferson.
Another important road, Texas State Highway 155, crosses Highway 49 near Avinger.
- Highway 155 heads northeast about 14 miles (23 km) to Linden. Linden is the main town in Cass County.
- It also goes southwest about 27 miles (43 km) to Gilmer.
