On November 4, 2022, a strong tornado hit Hughes Springs. It caused a lot of damage to the town.

Where is Hughes Springs Located?
Hughes Springs is in the western part of Cass County. A small piece of the city also reaches into Morris County.
The city is located along two main roads: Highway 11 and Highway 49. These highways run together through the city. Highway 11 goes east about 15 miles (24 km) to a town called Linden. Highway 49 goes southeast about 9 miles (14 km) to Avinger. If you travel west on both highways, you will reach Daingerfield in about 6 miles (10 km).
The city covers a total area of about 2.47 square miles (6.4 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
