History of Avon
Avon was first started in 1879. The city got its name from Avon, New York. This was the hometown of an early postmaster who helped set up the town.
In 1900, something big happened. A railroad was being built, and this caused the town to move. Avon was relocated to where it stands today to be closer to the new train tracks.
