Avondale is a diverse place! According to the 2010 census, many people in the borough were of Hispanic or Latino background. There were also people from White, Black or African American, Native American, and Asian backgrounds.
In 2000, the town had 1,108 people. The average household had about three people living in it. The median age was 32 years old, meaning half the people were younger and half were older than 32.
Culture and Community
Avondale is home to St. Rocco Church. This church is special because it was the first "National Hispanic Parish" set up by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It was created in 2011 to help the many Spanish-speaking Catholic families in the area.
Most of these families are from Mexico, but some also come from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala, and other Latin American countries. Many people in the community work in the local mushroom farming industry.

Getting Around Avondale
Avondale has about 6.13 miles (9.87 kilometers) of public roads. Most of these roads are taken care of by the borough itself.
The main road that goes through Avondale is Pennsylvania Route 41. It's also known as Pennsylvania Avenue. This road runs from the northwest to the southeast right through the center of town.
Famous Person from Avondale
A well-known journalist named Mark Sullivan (1874–1952) was born on a farm just outside Avondale. He later returned to live on that same farm in his older years.
