List of towns and boroughs in Pennsylvania facts for kids
This article is a list of all the towns and boroughs in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, a borough is a type of local government for smaller communities, kind of like a small city or a large town. There are 956 boroughs and just one town in Pennsylvania!
Unlike some other types of places in Pennsylvania, boroughs and towns are not grouped by how many people live there. This means a borough can be big or small, and it's still called a borough.
Some boroughs are called home rule municipalities. This means they have special permission from the state to make their own rules about how their local government works. It's like they have a bit more freedom to decide things for themselves, even if their name doesn't include "Borough." You'll see a small dagger (†) next to these special boroughs in the list.
Also, two boroughs, Quakertown and Weatherly, have chosen "optional plans." This lets them change how their local government is set up, but it doesn't change their main relationship with the state very much.
Pennsylvania's Only Town
Pennsylvania has only one official "town." Can you guess which one it is?
