McConnellsburg is a small town, also called a borough, in Pennsylvania, USA. It's the main town, or county seat, of Fulton County. In 2020, about 1,150 people lived there.

History of McConnellsburg
McConnellsburg has a special historic area called the McConnellsburg Historic District. The U.S. government recognized this district in 1993. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
This historic area has 144 old buildings that show its past. Many of these buildings were once taverns, inns, or car repair shops. They were important for travelers long ago.
Famous historic places here include the Fulton House and the Fulton County Courthouse. You can also see the log cabin of Daniel McConnell. He was the person who first planned out the town on April 20, 1786. McConnellsburg officially became a borough on March 26, 1814.
Economy and Jobs
The biggest business in McConnellsburg today is JLG Industries. This company is owned by Oshkosh Corporation. JLG Industries makes large lifting machines. These machines, like boomlifts, are used for construction and maintenance work.
Geography and Location
McConnellsburg is in the eastern part of Fulton County. It is located in the Ridge and Valley section of the Appalachian Mountains in southern Pennsylvania.
The town sits in a valley that is about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) wide. To the east is Tuscarora Mountain. To the west are Little Scrub Ridge and Meadow Grounds Mountain.
The United States Census Bureau says that McConnellsburg covers a total area of 0.9 square kilometers (0.35 square miles). All of this area is land.
Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 522 runs north and south through the middle of McConnellsburg. It is known as Second Street in town. The main east-west street is Lincoln Way. This used to be part of U.S. Route 30, also called the Lincoln Highway.
Now, U.S. Route 30 goes around the north side of the town on a faster highway. The western end of Pennsylvania Route 16 is in McConnellsburg. It follows Lincoln Way and then the Buchanan Trail southeast out of town.
- Via US 522, it is about 24 miles (39 km) south to Hancock, Maryland. It is about 9 miles (14 km) north to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
- US 30 goes east about 21 miles (34 km) to Chambersburg. It goes west about 19 miles (31 km) to Breezewood.
- PA 16 goes southeast about 10 miles (16 km) to Mercersburg. It is about 20 miles (32 km) to Greencastle.
