Sykesville is a small town, also known as a borough, located in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2010, about 1,157 people lived there.

The town got its name from Jacob B. Sykes, who was one of the first people to live there. Sykesville is also famous as the birthplace of Olga Madar (1915–1996). She made history as the first woman to become a vice-president in the United Auto Workers union in 1970. She also started the Coalition of Labor Union Women in 1974.

Where is Sykesville?

Sykesville is in the eastern part of Jefferson County. It is located at coordinates 41 degrees 2 minutes 58 seconds North and 78 degrees 49 minutes 12 seconds West. The eastern edge of the town is right on the border of Clearfield County.

U.S. Route 119 is a main road that goes through the middle of Sykesville. If you travel northeast on this road, you will reach DuBois in about 6 miles. If you go southwest, you will get to Punxsutawney in about 13 miles.

The United States Census Bureau says that Sykesville covers a total area of about 4.1 square kilometers (1.59 square miles). A very small part of this area, about 0.02 square kilometers (0.01 square miles), is water.

The town sits in a valley near a stream called Stump Creek. This creek flows south and eventually joins Mahoning Creek. Mahoning Creek then flows west into the Allegheny River.
