Edgewood's Story: A Look Back
Edgewood became an official town on December 1, 1888. It has many important historical places. These places help tell the story of the town.
Historic Buildings and Places
- The Edgewood Borough Building is where the town's government works. It also houses the police and fire services.
- The First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood is a beautiful old church.
- The Edgewood Community House is a busy place. It has the CC Mellor Memorial Library and the Edgewood Club.
- Memorial Park and Koenig Community Field are great places for outdoor activities.
- The Edgewood Primary School has taught many students over the years. It used to be a school for all ages. Now it teaches kids from kindergarten to sixth grade.
- There is also a historic train station.
- The Gardner-Bailey House is so important it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For over 100 years, a big factory called Union Switch & Signal was in Edgewood. It closed in 1986. Now, that same spot is a shopping center called Edgewood Towne Centre. It opened in 1990.
