Mohnton's Past: A Brief History
The first post office in Mohnton was set up in 1857. It was originally known as Mohn's Store. Later, in 1906, its name was changed to Mohnton. This post office is still open today.

Mohnton is in the southern part of Berks County. It is close to the city of Reading. The town is surrounded by Cumru Township. This includes a small area called Pennwyn to the east.
The town of Shillington is about 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast. A stream called Wyomissing Creek flows right through the middle of Mohnton.
The United States Census Bureau says Mohnton covers a total area of about 0.77 square miles (1.99 km²). Only a tiny part of this, about 0.01 square miles (0.01 km²), is water.
