Emporium is a small town, also called a borough, in Pennsylvania. It is the main town, or county seat, of Cameron County. Emporium is about 100 miles (161 km) west-northwest of Williamsport.

Long ago, in the early 1900s, Emporium was a busy place. It had big power plants. Factories made things like radio tubes and light bulbs (from a company called Sylvania Electric Products). They also made paving bricks, flour, iron, and lumber. In 1900, about 2,463 people lived here. By 1910, the population grew to 2,916. Today, the population is smaller. In 2020, about 1,961 people called Emporium home.

Where is Emporium Located?

Emporium is in the northern part of Cameron County. It sits in a valley near the Driftwood Branch of Sinnemahoning Creek. This creek flows southeast towards the West Branch Susquehanna River.

Several roads pass through Emporium. Pennsylvania Route 120 goes southeast to Driftwood (about 18 miles or 29 km away). It eventually leads to bigger cities like Lock Haven and Williamsport. Route 120 also goes west to St. Marys, which is about 19 miles (31 km) away.

Other roads connect Emporium to different areas. Pennsylvania Route 46 heads northwest to Smethport, about 27 miles (43 km) away. Pennsylvania Route 155 goes north to Port Allegany, which is about 24 miles (39 km) away. Both Smethport and Port Allegany are in the Allegheny River area.

The United States Census Bureau says Emporium covers about 0.75 square miles (1.9 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water.
