Oakmont is a small town, called a borough, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It's located right along the Allegheny River. In 2020, about 6,758 people lived there. Oakmont is a suburb, which means it's a town near a bigger city, in this case, Pittsburgh.

Oakmont became an official town in 1889. Its story began in 1816 when a farmer named Michael Bright bought a large piece of land. The town got its name from a special tree, a "black oak," that was mentioned in the land's description. Oakmont is famous for the Oakmont Country Club, a top-ranked golf course nearby. Many big golf tournaments, like the U.S. Open, have been held there.
