History of McClure
The town was first called Stuckton. It was named after George Stuck, who owned the farmland where McClure is today. In 1867, it became clear that the Middlecreek Valley Railroad would go right through the middle of Stuck's farm.
George Stuck then marked out a part of his farm. He created some building lots and named the place "STUCKTON." This is how the town began. However, for the next four years, there were no houses except for an old, worn-out log hut. No one seemed interested in buying lots or building a home at first.
